Rich Goodman, Spoke Folk program director, introduces employees of The Chautauqua Center to a new bike “rental” partnership. Employees can sign out one of four bikes to use on their lunch or other breaks.

TCC Health (The Chautauqua Center, Inc.) has announced the launch of an employee bike “rental” program in collaboration with Spoke Folk community bicycling project, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting cycling, its mechanics, and its benefits. The partnership is being run through the TCC Waterfront Wellness program. Spoke Folk has provided four unisex bikes for TCC staff in Dunkirk to use during business hours on lunch breaks and downtime, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. All employees have to do is fill out a waiver and sign out the bikes.

By offering bikes for employee use, TCC aims to encourage physical activity, reduce stress, and improve overall employee wellness. The program aligns with TCC’s commitment to supporting a healthy lifestyle, recognizing the importance of exercise in maintaining physical and mental wellbeing. Additionally, the partnership with Spoke Folk emphasizes TCC’s dedication to sustainable practices, as well as community engagement and partnerships.

“We are thrilled to partner with Spoke Folk to introduce this exciting opportunity for our employees,” said Alicia Ekstrom, Health and Wellness Director for The Chautauqua Center. “We believe that supporting the physical health and wellness of our staff translates into improved patient care and better outcomes for the community we serve.”

The collaboration between TCC and Spoke Folk reflects their shared commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle and supporting sustainable transportation options within the greater Dunkirk community. By making these bikes available to TCC employees, both organizations are investing in the overall wellbeing of the workforce, encouraging active transportation, and fostering a sense of community.

The four unisex bikes provided by Spoke Folk will be stationed at a convenient location within TCC’s premises, easily accessible to employees during designated free time during the regular business day.
