Woman wants neighbours to hide their trampoline

The mum was on a mission to spruce up her home but many people thought she had gone far too far with her request for her neighbour about their trampoline

If you are selling your home, you want to present your property in the best light possible. Whether this involves rearranging furniture, or adding a fresh lick of paint to the walls, small changes can bring big rewards.

But one mum may have gone too far in her quest to spruce up her home - by requesting her neighbour's move around their garden furniture. She hoped the unusual request would improve the view from the house, which is blocked by her neighbour's trampoline. Taking to Mumsnet for advice, the mum explained she thought the change could help her sell her home - and wanted to know if it was wrong to pose the question.

Her post, shared to the forum "Am I being unreasonable?", was titled: " To ask my neighbour to move their trampoline slightly out of sight when I have viewers round to my house?" It read: "Trying to sell my house at the moment, although we are detached we are very very close to our neighbours house. The only thing really separating us from the trampoline is a 6ft fence. When you look out of the back bedrooms all you see is this looming big trampoline (gardens are quite small). AIBU?"

Despite her reasoning, many were quick to side against the mum. One person wrote: "Yes. I would think my neighbours were nuts if they asked us to do something like that. Sorry. It's perfectly acceptable to have a trampoline in your garden." And another said: "I personally think it's out of order for you to ask them to do that."

A third agreed: "Why should neighbours rearrange their place for you?" Thankfully, the mum took the feedback on board, concluding: "Guess I am unreasonable then! I didn't expect them to move it, I was just going to ask them to move it slightly over a bit where it wouldn't have been so noticeable. I will just leave it then."
