Cozy cardio is a new fitness trend that brings accessible workouts home (VIDEO)

Jun 08, 2024

PARIS, Aug 5 — Working out and relaxing at the same time is the idea behind a new fitness trend called “cozy cardio.” It can be done at home, on a treadmill or an exercise bike, in pajamas or a bathrobe, in front of a good TV show or in a cozy, candle-lit ambience. Whatever you choose to set the scene, the most important thing is that you feel relaxed, and at ease.

Light a few candles, put on your best loungewear or your favourite pajamas, and then your workout can begin. Called cozy cardio, this is the latest fitness trend that has taken over TikTok, with its hashtag #CozyCardio reaching a million views.

The brainchild of a content creator by the name of Hope Zuckerbrow, cozy cardio involves walking indoors on a treadmill, in pajamas or loungewear, in your bedroom or living room, in front of your favourite TV show or with any other activity you find relaxing.

In one of her videos, Hope Zuckerbrow shares her cozy cardio routine. She wakes up early in the morning, makes an iced coffee, starts up her treadmill and turns on her TV to watch an episode of a show while she works out. Since then, other women have copied the concept, even going so far as to install their PC on their treadmill.

Cozy cardio involves low-impact, easily achievable workouts that don’t require you to jump around or run fast. In other words, there’s less impact and physical stress on your joints. You’ll need a treadmill or exercise bike at home.

But if you don’t want to invest, you can also do low-impact exercises such as lunges or side steps. Another plus point is that it’s accessible to everyone, whatever their fitness level.

Ideal in winter or when it’s raining, cozy cardio can be done at home at any time of day. And for the more reserved, this home workout also avoids having to face the gaze of others at the gym.

“Cozy cardio is a gentle and kind way to take care of your body and mind,” the lifestyle expert, Vicki Bahra, told Stylist UK.

“It is a great way to get your body moving in a way that’s really comfortable for you and release endorphins without the intimidation of the gym in a self-loving way which is great for the mind.” — ETX Studio
